| As fragile as they are beautiful, antique globes can suffer from many types of damage and neglect. Even so, Motionwork's resident craftsmen can restore them to their previous beauty as functioning scientific instruments. |
| Typically, the surface of nearly all antique globes is obscured by thick discoloured varnish, this can be carefully removed to reveal the paper gores, (maps). |
| Similarly, repairs can be carried out to the surface of the globes that have been scraped, knocked or broken, over the years. Globes are re-sized and varnished using traditional methods. All related parts that might be broken or missing can be repaired or replaced. |
